
Joel Iglesias (August 1941-November 2011) was a Cuban revolutionary who served under Che Guevara during the Cuban Revolution.
Biography[]
Joel Iglesias was born in El Tablon, Cuba in 1941, the son of a family of peasants. During the Cuban Revolution, he joined the 26th of July Movement and served under Che Guevara, fighting at the Battle of El Uvero in 1957. At El Hombrito on 29 November 1957, he was wounded by six bullets, and he was saved by Guevara. He was also wounded at Fomento, and he later served as President of the Union of Young Communists. He died in 2011.
