Joe Wilson (31 July 1947-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-SC 2) from 18 December 2001, succeeding Floyd Spence.
Biography[]
Joe Wilson was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1947, and he served in the US Army from 1972 to 2003, rising to the rank of colonel. He later worked as a real estate attorney, and he served in the State Senate from 1985 to 2001, when he succeeded his mentor Floyd Spence in the US House of Representatives on his death in office. Wilson was an ardent social and fiscal conservative and a strong supporter of the military.
