Joe Virgillo (died 2005) was a Mexican drug lord and one of the bosses of the Virgillo Cartel of Baja California.
Biography[]
Joe Virgillo was born in Baja California, Mexico to a large peasant family, and he and his brothers co-founded the Virgillo Cartel in the Baja Californian countryside. By 2005, their cartel was in an all-out war with the Morales Cartel over drug trafficking and territory, leading to several shootouts in Los Toros and the desert. Cesar Morales sent his henchman, the undercover DEA agent Ramiro Cruz, to the Virgillos' farm to destroy their fertilizer silo and steal the Virgillos' prized sports car, and Cruz killed scores of Virgillo gunmen before killing Joe Virgillo in his office and stealing the car for himself. Morales later had the car destroyed to mock the Virgillo family.
