Joseph James "Joe" Rogan (born 11 August 1967) was an American podcaster and comedian. Rogan was born in Newark, New Jersey, and he was raised by his mother in San Francisco, California; Gainesville, Florida; and Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts following his parents' divorce when he was five. He began a stand-up career in 1988 and became a television actor during the 1990s and was a UFC commentator from 1997 to 2006. In 2009, he became a podcaster, and his show The Joe Rogan Experience was soon syndicated on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Rogan was a libertarian who supported gay rights, women's rights, recreational drug use, universal healthcare, a universal basic income, and gun rights, while criticizing military adventurism and routine infant circumcision. He endorsed the Libertarian Party presidential nominees Ron Paul in 2012 and Gary Johnson in 2016 and the Democratic presidential candidates Tulsi Gabbard and then Bernie Sanders in 2020; when it became likely that the 2020 election would be contested between the Democrat Joe Biden and the Republican incumbent Donald Trump, Rogan said that he would rather vote for Trump due to what Rogan saw as his lack of aging during his time in office, while he feared that Biden's mental faculties would decline during his presidency.
