Joe Neguse (born 1983) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-CO 2) from 3 January 2019, succeeding Jared Polis.
Biography[]
Joe Neguse was born in Bakersfield, California in 1983 to Eritrean immigrants, and his family moved to Colorado when he was six years old. He worked as a liberal activist before serving as executive director of the Department of Regulatory Agencies under Governor John Hickenlooper. In 2018, he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat, becoming the first black representative from Colorado.
