Jobbik, the Movement for a Better Hungary is a radical nationalist and far-right party in Hungary that was founded on 24 October 2003. The party claimed that it was conservative and a radically patriotic Christian party, and it opposed membership in the European Union, globalization, and the existence of the state of Israel. The party held strong fascist views due to its anti-Semitism and its support of Admiral Miklos Horthy's regime, unveiling a bust of him in Budapest's Liberty Square in 2013. The party also banned the practice of the Islamic religion in the town of Asotthalom, with Mayor Laszlo Toroczkai enforcing a ban of Islam and gay marriage in his town. In 2016, the party held 24/199 National Assembly seats, 3/121 European Parliament seats, and 81/419 County Assembly seats.
