Joaquín de la Vega (1841 - 1921) was a Mexican-American noblemen who lived in Los Angeles during the 19th Century.

Biography[]

Joaquín de la Vega was born in Los Angeles, California in 1841. His father was Alejandro de la Vega and his mother Elena de la Vega. He was named after Joaquin Murrieta, a California Chilean-Mexican bandit and hero. In 1850, he met Zorro, the local hero (who was secretly his father). Joaquín along with his parents confronted French count Armand de la Rocque and American gunslinger Jacob McGivens, both of them worked together with Confederate general P.G.T. Beauregard in a plot to attack Washington DC with Nitroglycerin and start a Civil War in the US. Armand was killed when his train full of explosives derailed killing him. That same day California joined the Union.
