Joachim Andreas von Schlick (9 September 1569-21 June 1621) was a Bohemian Protestant nobleman who was executed in 1621 for his role in the Bohemian Revolt.
Biography[]
Joachim Andreas von Schlick was born in Ostrov, Bohemia on 9 September 1569 to the Czech Schlick family, and he worked as rector of the University of Jena before educating several Saxon princes. In 1608, he became a prominent Lutheran representative and took part in negotiations between the rebellious Czech states. In 1611, he became a Royal Marshal of the Holy Roman Empire, and, when the Bohemian Revolt broke out ten years later, he took part in the Second Defenestration of Prague. On 21 June 1621, following the defeat at the Battle of White Mountain, he was executed in Prague's Old Town Square.
