
Joseph Edmund Johnson (born 23 December 1971) was the Conservative Party MP for Orpington from 6 May 2010 to 12 December 2019, succeeding John Horam and preceding Gareth Bacon. The brother of Boris Johnson, he served as Minister of State for Transport from 9 January to 9 November 2018 in Theresa May's government, but he resigned due to the failure of Brexit.

Joseph Edmund Johnson was born in London, England in 1971, the brother of Boris Johnson. He worked as an investment banker for Deutsche Bank and as a financial journalist before being elected to Parliament in 2010 as a Conservative Party MP. In 2018, he joined Theresa May's cabinet as Minister of State for Transport, but he resigned on 9 November 2018 due to the failure of the Brexit referendum. On 24 July 2019, after his brother became Prime Minister, Jo Johnson was appointed Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research, and Innovation, but on 5 September 2019 he resigned as Minister and announced that he would not stand for re-election at the next general election, saying that he was torn between family and national interest. Gareth Bacon was elected to succeed him.
