Jingim (1243-5 January 1286) was Crown Prince of the Yuan dynasty under his father Kublai Khan. He died eight years before his father, but his son Temur Khan went on to become Emperor on Kublai's death in 1294.
Biography[]
Jingim was the son of Kublai Khan and Chabi, and he was his father's second son. He was created Crown Prince by his father in 1273 and became head of the Central Secretariat; Jingim became a strong supporter of Confucianism. He became highly respected throughout the Yuan empire, and, in 1285, officials at the Yuan court asked Kublai Khan to abdicate in favor of his son. Kublai was infuriated with his son (despite Jingim's refusal to take the throne), causing Jingim to become a drunkard and die of alcoholism in 1286, eight years before his father.
