James "Jimmy" Petrille was the consigliere of the Lupertazzi crime family, succeeding Angelo Garepe and preceding Albie Cianflone. Petrille was a confidential informant and incriminated his former boss Johnny Sacrimoni.
Biography[]
Petrille was born to an Italian-American family in Brooklyn, New York City. He joined the Lupertazzi crime family and became very close to boss Carmine Lupertazzi, rising through the ranks until becoming a capo in charge of his own crew. However, Petrille was approached by the FBI and he agreed to become a cooperator. When Lupertazzi died in 2004, Petrille allied up with Johnny Sacrimoni's faction and opposed Lupertazzi's son Carmine Jr. for leadership. During the confrontation, DiMeo crime family boss Tony Soprano's cousin Tony Blundetto killed Billy Leotardo, the brother of respected Lupertazzi captain Phil Leotardo who was injured as well. Petrille and Sacrimoni confronted the DiMeos over this, but Soprano repeatedly refused to surrender his cousin. After Lupertazzi Jr. backed out from the power struggle, Petrille relayed the news to Soprano, and ultimately, Soprano himself killed Blundetto to prevent him from being tortured in revenge by Leotardo. As Sacrimoni emerged victorious from the conflict, he made Petrille his new consigliere, but the Brooklyn Assistant US Attorney's Office then indicted Sacrimoni and all of Petrille's crew based on his information, with Petrille informing on 18 years' worth of illicit activities such as gambling, trafficking and murder. Petrille then disappeared into the Witness Protection Program.
