Jim Weaver

Jim Weaver (8 August 1927-6 October 2020) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-OR 4) from 3 January 1975 to 3 January 1987, succeeding John R. Dellenback and preceding Peter DeFazio.

Biography[]

Jim Weaver was born in Brookings, South Dakota in 1927, and he served on a US Navy aircraft carrier in the Pacific during World War II. In 1947, he moved to Oregon, and he was hired by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. He soon became a developer of office and department buildings, as well as a delegate to the 1960 and 1964 Democratic National Conventions. In 1974, he was elected to the US House of Representatives, and he retired in 1986 after he was discovered to have used campaign money for personal uses. He died in 2020 at the age of 93.
