Jim Sterling (1846-1911) was an American lawman who was a member of the Blackwater Police Department during the Wild West era. He was murdered in 1911 by Dutch van der Linde in Cochinay. His murder was witnessed by the bounty hunter, John Marston, who was shot through his binoculars by Dutch van der Linde. Sterling's body was then scalped and mutilated by the Native Americans members of Dutch's Gang. He is the younger brother of Morgan Sterling, the Deputy Chief of Police in Blackwater.
