James "Big Jim" McCormick (born 1923) was a New Orleans police detective.
Biography[]
James McCormick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1923 to a family of Irish descent. He became a police detective in the city's corrupt police force, and he became a rival of drug dealer Doc Gaston, a hippie who put his "poison" out on the streets during the 1960s. In 1968, McCormick decided to work with criminal Lincoln Clay to destroy Gaston, as the police did not know where Gaston was, and McCormick wanted Clay to deliver his street justicce to the drug dealer. McCormick supplied Clay with information, and he told Clay that he would allow for him to kill Gaston rather than have the police arrest him.
