
James Creel "Jim" Marshall (born 31 March 1948) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA 3) from 3 January 2003 to 3 January 2007, succeeding Mac Collins and preceding Lynn Westmoreland, and from GA GA 8 from 3 January 2007 to 3 January 2011, succeeding Westmoreland and preceding Austin Scott.
Biography[]
Jim Marshall was born in Ithaca, New York in 1948, and he served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a clerk for district court judges before becoming a business professor at Mercer University, and he served as Mayor of Macon from 1995 to 1999 before being elected to the US House of Representatives in 2002 as a Democratic Party member. Marshall was a member of the conservative Blue Dog Coalition, generally voting conservative on social issues and supporting businesses. He retired in 2010.
