Biography[]
Jim Chee was born to a Navajo family in New Mexico, and he became a police detective while attending the FBI Academy; he was also an aspiring medicine man. In 2002, he was partnered with veteran policeman Joe Leaphorn to solve the murders of several people on the Navajo reservation, and Chee was nearly killed in the process, with Ruben Maze firing at his trailer with a shotgun in an attempt to scare him. Ultimately, the perpetrator of the murders, Bahe Yellowhorse, was tracked down by Chee as he fished. Yellowhorse shot Chee, but Leaphorn arrived and shot Yellowhorse dead before taking Chee to a hospital to be saved.
