Jihadi Jake

Jake "Jihadi Jake" Bilardi (1996-11 March 2015), also known as Abu Abdulla al-Australi, was an Australian member of the Islamic State. He was the youngest Westerner to be recruited as a suicide bomber by ISIS, being 18 when he carried out his attack.

Biography[]

Jake Bilardi was born in 1996 in Craigieburn, Victoria, Australia. He was a soccer fan, but he was shy and lonesome and was bullied on film ("happy slapped") while at school. After his mother's death from cancer and his discovery of abuses committed by the United States against Muslims in the Middle East, Bilardi became a radical convert to Islam despite growing up an atheist, supporting Osama bin Laden on Facebook after 2014. Bilardi originally planned to build explosives in his home country and carry out an attack there, but he found that it would be easier to leave the country, so he headed to Iraq after contacting an al-Nusra Front recruiter. Bilardi was recruited into the Islamic State, and on 11 March 2015 he committed suicide in a suicide bombing in Ramadi, although he was the only fatality.
