
Jesse Johnson Yeates (29 May 1829-5 September 1892) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NC 1) from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1879 (succeeding Clinton L. Cobb and preceding Joseph John Martin) and from NC-1 in 1881 (succeeding Martin and preceding Louis C. Latham).
Biography[]
Jesse Johnson Yeates was born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina in 1829, and he became a lawyer in 1855, Hertford County prosecuting attorney in 1855, a member of the House of Commons from 1860 to 1862, a Confederate States Army major during the American Civil War, and a member of the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1879 and in 1881. He died in 1892.
