Jeremiah Purvis (died 16 July 1794) was a Continental Army captain who served in the American Revolutionary War. After the war, he and several other discontented Pennsylvania farmers joined James McFarlane in the Whiskey Rebellion, and they confronted tax collector John Neville at his home near Pittsburgh. In the ensuing confrontation, a US Army soldier shot Purvis dead, resulting in the Battle of Bower Hill.
