
Jeffrey Leon Battle (born 1970) was a member of the "Portland Seven" cell of al-Qaeda.
Biography[]
Jeffrey Leon Battle was born in 1970 in Houston, Texas, and he later moved to Portland, Oregon. Battle previously served as a bodyguard for New Black Panther Party leader Quanell X before he became a radical Islamist, and he joined the US Army Reserves to gain experience in American tactics and handling of weapons. He married October Lewis, and the two of them joined the "Portland Seven" cell of al-Qaeda, being arrested on 29 September 2001 for firing guns at a rock quarry. Battle was arrested on his second attempt to head to Afghanistan and join the Taliban in 2002, and he was sentenced to eighteen years in prison.
