
Jeff Fortenberry (27 December 1960-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NE 1) from 3 January 2005 to 31 March 2022, succeeding Doug Bereuter and preceding Mike Flood.
Biography[]
Jeff Fortenberry was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1960, and he worked as an economist, in local economic development, and as a publishing executive for Sandhills Publishing. He served on the city council of Lincoln, Nebraska from 1997 to 2001, and he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2004. Fortenberry challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election, but he later voted in favor of creating the January 6 Commission. On 19 October 2021, however, it was revealed that Fortenberry had received $30,000 in illegal campaign contributions from Gilbert Chagoury, and he was convicted on three felony counts on 24 March 2022 and resigned from Congress on 31 March. On 28 June 2022, he was sentenced to two years' probation.
