Jaysh al-Thuwar is a coalition of former Hazzm Movement and Syria Revolutionaries Front groups allied to the YPG formed on 3 May 2015. Jaysh al-Thuwar had a strength of 7,000 troops, and it was a part of the Syrian Democratic Forces and Euphrates Volcano operations rooms, and the group united Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmen. The group considered itself to be aligned with the mainstream rebels, but it turned down United States support; because of its warfare with both moderate and extremist Islamist groups, the group was therefore not given support by Turkey. The group later withdrew from rebel-held areas and teamed up with Rojava in its war with the Islamic State and extremist groups. Jaysh al-Thuwar became enemies with not just ISIS and the government of Syria, but also Fatah Halab, al-Nusra Front, Ahrar ash-Sham, Mare' Operations Room, the Islamic State, and Turkey.
