Jayanthi Sayyapparaju

Jayanthi Sayyapparaju (1669-1735) was Senakarta (Secretary of the Army) of the Maratha Confederacy from 1700 until his death in 1735, when he was succeeded by Santa Sayyapparaju.

Biography[]

Jayanthi Sayyapparaju was born in Satara, Bijapur, India in 1669 to a brahmin caste family. Sayyapparaju became the Senakarta (Secretary of the Army) of the Maratha Confederacy in 1700 and he commanded the Maratha forces during their war with the Mughal Empire in the 1700s. His son Santa Sayyapparaju succeeded him upon his death in 1735.
