Java is an island in the Pacific Ocean that is a region of Indonesia, containing 56.7% of the Indonesian population as well as the capital of Jakarta. Java is the economic, political, and cultural center of Indonesia despite being smaller than the larger Indonesian provinces of Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, and West Papua, and it is home to 145,000,000 people. The majority of the Javanese people are Sunni Muslim.
