Janak Pageni (20 February 1949-16 July 1998) was a Nepalese right-wing activist who was hired by the Kingdom of Nepal to gain support for the government during the Nepalese Civil War. He was assassinated in 1998.
Biography[]
Janak Pageni was born on 20 February 1949 in Dipayal Silgadhi in western Nepal, and he graduated from Tribhuvan University with a journalism degree. Pageni ran a newspaper supporting the Kingdom of Nepal, and he was used for anti-Communist Party of Nepal propaganda during the Nepalese Civil War. Pageni was accused of mustering up Nepalese people into the military's paramilitary groups to fight the communists, so on 16 July 1998 he was gunned down by assailants with Type 56 assault rifles.
