Jamtland is a province of central Sweden, bordering Harjedalen, Medelpad, Angermanland, Lappland, and Norway. The region was ruled by a peasant republic during the Middle Ages, and the region's first city, Ostersund, was founded by King Gustav III of Sweden in 1786. In 2016, Jamtland had a population of 115,331 people.
