Jamshid Sharmahd (3 April 1954-28 October 2024) was an Iranian-German political activist and leader of the monarchist Tondar terrorist organization from 2007 to 2024, succeeding Frood Fouladvand.
Biography[]
Jamshid Sharmahd was born in Tehran, Iran in 1954, and he was educated in Germany and became an engineer who specialized in automation. He founded Sharmahd Computing Inc. in the United States and moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to run the company; there, he became involved in the monarchist Tondar organization, led by Frood Fouladvand. After Fouladvand's disappearance in 2007, the Iranian government claimed that Sharmahd had become the new leader of the organization, although the group claimed that Sharmahd was merely their spokesman. He was abducted from Tajikistan by Iranian intelligence on 1 August 2016 and was executed in 2024.
