The Jammoul, short for the Lebanese National Resistance Front, was the successor group to the Lebanese National Movement that existed from 1982 to 1999. It had 2,000 fighters during the Lebanese Civil War, and it was allied to the Palestine Liberation Organization, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Progressive Socialist Party, Hezbollah, and Syria and was opposed to the Lebanese Forces, Israel, and the South Lebanon Army. From 1982 to 1985 it carried out 128 guerrilla attacks against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), but from 1986 to 2000 a considerable number of fighters were killed by Israel and the SLA, and many leaders were assassinated in South Lebanon in the late 1980s.
