James Thomas MD

James Thomas (11 March 1785-25 December 1845) was the National Republican Governor of Maryland from 17 January 1833 to 14 January 1836, succeeding George Howard and preceding Thomas Veazey.

Biography[]

James Thomas was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland in 1785, and he worked as a physician until the War of 1812, as a justice of the peace, on the levy court from 1810 to 1812, as a cavalry major during the war, in the State Senate from 1826 to 1831, and as Governor from 1833 to 1836. He died in 1845.
