James Stockburn

James Stockburn in 1912.

James Stockburn (born in 1855), also known as Rough Rider was an American war veternan and treasure hunter and a member of a grave robbing gang led by Fedora, which recovered the Cross of Coronado from a Utah canyon in 1912.

Biography[]

James Stockburn was born in Utah in 1855 son of a family of English-Scots pioneers. In 1898, he joined the Rough Riders and fought in Cuba during the Spanish-American War.

In 1902, he joined the Fedora Gang led by Garth Young. In 1912, the gang was hired by Stanley Lockhart, a Canadian antiquities collector to find the Cross of Coronado in a excavation in a Utah canyon.

After Indiana Jones stole the Cross of Coronado, Stockburn chased Indy and fought him on the circus train. During the fight, Stockburn and Jeffrey Callahan, a half breed Native American, followed Jones into the reptile car and got momentarily trapped. Stockburn used his pistol to unlock the train car door, and later pulled his gun on Jones after helping to hoist him out of the lion car.

Rough Rider later appeared at the Joneses household when Garth reclaimed the Cross with police assistance.
