James Rariden

James Rariden (14 February 1795-20 October 1856) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-IN 5) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1841, succeeding Johnathan McCarty and preceding Andrew Kennedy.

Biography[]

James Rariden was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky in 1795, and he moved to Brookville and Salisbury in Indiana. He became a lawyer in Centerville in 1820 and served as prosecuting attorney from 1822 to 1825, in the State Senate in 1823, in the State House from 1829 to 1830 and 1832 to 1833, and in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1841. Rariden moved to Cambridge City in 1846, and he died in 1856.
