
James Meacham (16 August 1810-23 August 1856) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-VT 3) from 3 December 1849 to 3 March 1853 (succeeding George Perkins Marsh and preceding Alvah Sabin) and from VT-1 from 4 March 1853 to 23 August 1856 (succeeding Ahiman L. Miner and preceding George T. Hodges. Born in Rutland, he worked as a tutor at Middlebury College and became a Congregationalist pastor in New Haven, VErmont before serving in Congress.
