James Lukens McConaughy (21 October 1887-7 March 1948) was the Republican Governor of Connecticut from 8 January 1947 to 7 March 1948, succeeding Charles Wilbert Snow and preceding James C. Shannon.

James Lukens McConaughy was born in New York City in 1887, and he worked as a professor of education at Dartmouth College from 1918 to 1925, as President of Knox College and Wesleyan University from 1925 to 1943, as Lieutenant Governor from 1939 to 1941, and as Governor from 1947 until his death in 1948.
