James Kilbourne (19 October 1770-9 April 1850) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-OH 5) from 4 March 1813 to 3 March 1817, preceding Philemon Beecher. He was the father of Milwaukee co-foudner and mayor Byron Kilbourn.
Biography[]
James Kilbourne was born in New Britain, Connecticut in 1770, and he and his family moved to Ohio in 1803, where he founded the city of Worthington and St. John's Episcopal Church. During the War of 1812, he served as colonel of a frontier regiment, and he served as a trustee of Ohio University from 1804 to 1820, in the US House of Representatives from 1813 to 1817, as a James Monroe presidential elector in 1820, and in the State House from 1823 to 1824 and from 1838 to 1839. He died in 1850.
