James K. Jones

James Kimbrough Jones (29 September 1839-1 June 1908) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-AR 2) from 4 March 1881 to 19 February 1885 (succeeding William F. Slemons and preceding Clifton R. Breckinridge) and a US Senator from 4 March 1885 to 3 March 1903 (succeeding James D. Walker and preceding James Paul Clarke).

Biography[]

James Kimbrough Jones was born in Marshall County, Mississippi in 1839, and he was raised in Dallas County, Arkansas. He served in the Confederate 3rd Arkansas Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War before practicing law in Washington and serving in the US House of Representatives from 1881 to 1885 and in the US Senate from 1885 to 1903. He died in 1908.
