
James Israel Standifer (19 April 1779-20 August 1837) was a member of the US House of Representatives (NR-TN 3) from 4 March 1823 to 3 March 1825 (succeeding Francis Jones and preceding James Coffield Mitchell) and from 4 March 1829 to 3 March 1833 (succeeding Mitchell and preceding Luke Lea), and from TN-4 from 4 March 1833 to 20 August 1837 (succeeding Jacob C. Isacks and preceding William Stone.
Biography[]
James Israel Standifer was born in Virginia in 1779, and he was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and served in the War of 1812 before becoming a slave-owner and serving in the US House of Representatives from 1823 to 1825 and from 1829 to 1837. He died in office.
