
James Henry Platt Jr. (13 July 1837-13 August 1894) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-VA 2) from 27 January 1870 to 3 March 1875, succeeding John Millson and preceding John Goode.
Biography[]
James Henry Platt Jr. was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1837, and he was raised in Burlington, Vermont. He practiced medicine before serving in the Union Army during the American Civil War and settling in Petersburg, Virginia, where he was elected to the city council on 6 April 1865. He later moved to Norfolk and served in the US House of Representatives from 1870 to 1875, and he worked as an oil manufacturer and medical director in New York City from 1876 to 1887 and engaged in business in Denver, Colorado from 1887 until his death in 1894.
