
James Geddes (22 July 1763 – 19 August 1838) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 19) from 1813 to 1815, preceding Victory Birdseye.
Biography[]
James Geddes was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1763, and he settled near Onondaga Lake, New York in 1794. He founded a salt works at Solvay and became an adopted member of the local Onondaga tribe, and he helped to supervise the construction of the Erie Canal. Geddes also served in the US House of Representatives from 1813 to 1815, and he died in Camillus, New York in 1838.
