James Dickenson (died 23 March 1815) was the captain of sloop HMS Penguin during the War of 1812.
Biography[]
Dickenson became captain of Penguin in June 1814, and on 23 March 1815 HMS Penguin met brig USS Hornet off Tristan da Cunha in the South Pacific Ocean (off South Africa). Dickenson was killed along with 9 other British sailors, and his ship surrendered.
