James Cochran (11 February 1769-7 November 1848) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 10) from 4 March 1797 to 3 March 1799, interrupting William Cooper's terms.

Biography[]

James Cochran was born in Albany, New York in 1769, the nephew of Philip Schuyler. He served as a regent of the State University of New York from 1796 to 1820, as a member of the US House of Representatives from 1797 to 1799, as a State Senator from 1814 to 1818, and as Postmaster of Oswego from 1841 to 1845. He died in 1848.
