James Calandra

James "Jimmy Gap" Calandra (born 1969) was a Bonanno crime family associate and a member of the "Bath Avenue Crew".

Biography[]

James Calandra was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York City in 1969, and Calandra was introduced to the Mafia at a young age. Calandra and his friends Paul Gulino, Thomas Reynolds, Joseph Calco, and Fabrizio DeFrancisci formed their own crew, the "Bath Avenue Crew". In 1992, their crew robbed the Staten Island mall Chase Bank, stealing $400,000. On 10 May 1993, he was arrested for a bank robbery and sentenced to six years in prison, and he was sent to the Lewisburg Penitentiary in Pennsylvania. In 1999, Calandra, Reynolds, and Anthony Spero faced more charges, so Calandra decided to turn states in 2001 and testify against Spero; he turned informant after Spero had his friend Gulino killed.
