James Cameron Allen (29 January 1822-30 January 1912) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-IL 7) from 4 March 1853 to 3 March 1857 (succeeding Richard Yates and preceding Aaron Shaw) and from the at-large district from 4 March 1863 to 3 March 1865 (preceding Samuel W. Moulton).
Biography[]
James Cameron Allen was born in Shelby County, Kentucky in 1822, and he moved to Parke County, Indiana in 1830 and became a lawyer in Sullivan, Indiana in 1843. He served as prosecuting attorney from 1846 to 1848, and he then moved to Palestine, Illinois and served in the State House from 1850 to 1851 and in the US House of Representatives from 1853 to 1857 and from 1863 to 1865. He died in Olney in 1912.
