
James Overton Broadhead (29 May 1819-7 August 1898) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MO 9) from 4 March 1883 to 3 March 1885, succeeding Nicholas Ford and preceding John Milton Glover.
Biography[]
James Overton Broadhead was born in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1819, and he became a lawyer in Bowling Green, Missouri in 1842. He served in the state house in 1846, in the state senate from 1850 to 1853, as a lawyer in St. Louis, as lieutenant-colonel of the 3rd Missouri Cavalry Regiment, USA during the American Civil War, in the US House of Representatives from 1883 to 1885, and as Ambassador to Switzerland from 1893 to 1895. He died in 1898.
