James, son of Zebedee (died 44 AD) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and the patron saint of Spain.
Biography[]
James was born in Capernaum, Judea, the brother of John the Apostle. James came to meet with Jesus and the Twelve Apostles after they had returned from their ministry in Capernaum, begging Jesus to return to Capernaum and continue preaching there. James was one of the three witnesses to Jesus' transfiguration, and, after Jesus' death, he became known as an evangelist with a fiery temper. In 44 AD, he was executed by the sword in Jerusalem on the orders of Herod Agrippa, and he was buried in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
