Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) is a militant jihadist organization active in West Africa, founded on 2 March 2017 as a merger of Ansar Dine, the Macina Liberation Front, al-Mourabitoun, and the Saharan branch of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. It became the official branch of al-Qaeda in Mali after its leaders swore allegiance to Ayman al-Zawahiri, and the group had a strength of around 800 fighters in 2018.
