Jake Adler (died May 1899) was an American rancher from Montana.
Biography[]
Jake Adler worked as a rancher in Wyola, Big Horn County, Montana, and he married Sadie Adler on 7 September 1896, settling down with her near the Wyoming border. The two of them shared responsibilities on the Adler Ranch, and they had a happy marriage for years. However, the first signs of trouble occurred in 1898 when their cart was stolen by Flaco Hernandez' gang, and they hired the drifter Arizona Kid to recover the cart for them; Jake was afraid that, if he left his home, it would be robbed by the criminals. Arizona brought back the cart for payment, and they would go on to employ him several more times. In May 1899, the O'Driscoll Boys gang arrived at the ranch in search of lodgings while fleeing from the Pinkertons. The O'Driscolls murdered Jake Adler and left his body in a wagon as Sadie hid in the basement, and she was rescued when Dutch van der Linde, Micah Bell, and Arthur Morgan killed the O'Driscolls.
