Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is an Islamic jihadist group active in Kashmir, founded in 2000 by Masood Azhar. The group's primary motive was to separate Kashmir from India and merge it into Pakistan, and it was allied to the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. The group carried out several attacks in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, and it was the deadliest and the principal terror organization in Kashmir; it was banned in Pakistan in 2002. In 2016, JeM attacked the Pathankot airbase in India with Pakistani support.
