Jainil Rawat (1669-1742) was a general of the Maratha Confederacy.
Biography[]
Rawat was born to a Hindu Indian family in Bijapur, and became a general of the Maratha Confederacy as of 1700, when the Deccan Wars reached the height of its activity. Rawat secured the city of Ahmadnagar from the Mughal Empire, weakening their position in southern India. From there, he recruited a large army and in 1704 marched on the large Mughal capital of Akbarabad. He captured the city, and remained governor until his death in 1742 at the age of 73, and was succeeded by Avanish Swarup.
