
Jacques-Charles Dupont de l'Eure (27 February 1767 – 3 March 1855) was the acting Prime Minister of France from 24 February to 8 May 1848, succeeding the regime of King Louis Philippe I and preceding Francois Arago.
Biography[]
Jacques-Charles Dupont de l'Eure was born in Le Neuborg, Normandy, France on 27 February 1767, and he was a member of the French Directory's Council of Five Hundred after working as a lawyer during the French Revolution. From 1817 to 1849, he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Bourbon Restoration and July Monarchy goverments, and he represented the conservative French Republicans political party. In 1830, he briefly served as Minister of Justice, but he resigned soon after. In February 1848, he became the provisional leader of France, and he served as acting Prime Minister from February to May. In 1849, he failed to win re-election to the chamber, and he died in 1855 at the age of 88.
