Jacob Cheesman

Jacob Cheesman (1752-31 December 1775) was a Captain in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.

Biography[]

Jacob Cheesman was born in 1752 in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, the son of Thomas Cheesman and his wife Elizabeth. He rose to the rank of Captain in the Continental Army, and he was one of General Richard Montgomery's aides during the invasion of Canada in 1775. He was struck down by grapeshot during the battle of Quebec on 31 December 1775 alongside Captain John MacPherson and Montgomery himself.
